Resting??????

Would you believe I'm simply resting? I didn't think so. This is right after I was turning around to comment to Randy, "it's kinda of icy isn't it?"

Randy and I made a quick trip to Mt. Shasta yesterday (Feb. 17, 2007). It was blast. I've been wanting to go skiing here for quite awhile. It's only about 1 hour past the turnoff to Mt. Ashland and we were able to luck out an get a great evening. Our plan was to drive over and arrive just in time for the night skiing. Less crowds, less hurry to get there, and less expense. We arrived in Mt. Shasta about 2:30 and checked into a motel, then left to get to the mountain about 3. The rental check-in was really smooth, much easier than Mt. Ashland. Everything is really close together. Since the day skiing, that was over at 4, slightly overlapped the night ski, which started at 3 there was probably about a 3-4 minute wait the first few runs. I was fortunate enough to ride up with a ski patrol person who I could grill for what to expect at the top. Of course, I wasn't quite ready to get off the chair when it was time so I ended up exiting the chair and ending up on my butt (not the above picture, that was later). The easy slopes are easy, gradual, and wide. But, that didn't keep me from falling a couple more times.

We even got to ride ski down the slopes on the track of the grooming machine as it was smoothing the slope. Nirvana!!! The entire experience was awesome. Randy and I are going to get spoiled. The last time we went to Ashland we had a great day. No wind, warm even, and great snow. This was the same. I would rate it as a 10 out of 10 experience. We both agreed it was worth the extra drive to get here. Instead of staying the night as we had planned, we went ahead and drove back home so we could be here when HB was taking off this morning.
